DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Wilfried Schmid\, Harvard University\n\nUnderstanding the unitary dual of a general reductive Lie group is the major open problem in the representation theory of such groups. After a discussion of the problem, I shall describe an application of Hodge theory towards its solution. This is joint work with Kari Vilonen.
