What are Theory and Experiment in Climate Science? And Where’s the Math? |
Abstract |
Mathematicians have not been as involved in climate research as they are in many other areas of physics or biology, even compared with other areas of the geosciences. I will discuss how we may view climate research in way that makes the potential for our contributions clearer. I will also discuss some of the mathematical progress that will be needed to make advances in climate prediction, particularly in reference to the melding of data with computational models. |
