SIAM at the University of Utah
SIAM Data Science Reading Group
Wednesday 4:30-5:30 PM
Location: LCB 222
SIAM will be holding a discussion group on Data-Driven Science and Modeling. During each meeting we will briefly discuss relevant mathematics and then focus on putting data modeling techniques into practice through shared code. The reading group will meet monthly and will loosely follow Data-Driven Science and Engineering: Machine Learning, Dynamical Systems, and Control By Nathan Kutz and Steven Brunton. Online videos associated with the book can be found here. You do not have to buy the book to participate, and no background in Numerical Analysis is required (some programming experience and linear algebra knowledge may be helpful). All are welcome - junior/senior undergraduate and early career graduate students in any STEM field are especially invited to attend. Our first meeting will take place on October 21st from 4:30-5:30pm in LCB 222. If you have any questions, please direct them to hvanlooy@math.utah.edu.
