       SUBROUTINE  SYMUP (UPX,UPY,UPZ)
 C$    (Symbol Up Direction)
 C$    Define the  Character  Up direction  to  be  (UPX,UPY,UPZ).
 C$    Together with the Character Right vector, this defines  the
 C$    plane in which the characters lie.
